Project Description

Discover solace away from city life in our architectural gem, tailored for a couple who relishes escaping the rush of their busy urban lives. Mimicking a stranded cruise ship, this house is nestled in a desert oasis, offering a tranquil haven amidst breathtaking landscapes and sunsets.

On the ground floor, we feature a double-volume open plan kitchen and dining area connecting to a lounge with a fireplace. Additionally, a separate TV lounge connects to an outdoor sunken firepit lounge. The kitchen seamlessly opens up to the outdoors with a breakfast/cocktail counter, allowing for a seamless connection to the pool and nature. Shall we proceed upstairs?

Ascending the stairs, we enter the entertainment hub, furnished with a lush rug and large bean bag poufs for the ultimate comfortable gaming and cinema experience. Purposefully designed without windows, this space exudes a moody ambiance, enhanced by strategic artificial lighting to showcase various artworks.

To the left of the entertainment lounge lies the Master suite, but let’s first explore the area to the right. Walking down the gallery link towards the study, we encounter paintings by the talented Mické Buitendag adorning the walls, while enjoying a captivating view of the double-volume kitchen and surrounding landscapes.

The study was meticulously designed to open to the double-volume kitchen and features a large sliding window, allowing for natural airflow and a connection to the surrounding landscaping.

Now, let’s return to the Master suite. As you pass through the frosted glass crittal doors into the master suite, you stroll past the en-suite bathroom and walk-in dresser before reaching the bedroom. Above the bed, a large skylight invites the feeling of sleeping under the stars, which can be closed with an automated shutter if desired. The bedroom boasts a spacious balcony,
offering a connection to nature and the perfect setting for summer late-night “Stoep-chats” before bedtime.
